I think I need a vacation. Most of my current shoots have been at the pub with friends. This by itself is not a bad thing of course. I always enjoy hanging out with my friends at the pub, but they are probably getting tired of me taking their pictures. Pint in one hand camera in the other…

Nature’s Photoshop

Sometimes when I am browsing through my photographs the thought occurs to me that no matter how fancy software may be or how great the camera is, you will never out-do mother nature in the making things beautiful department. She has a way of making Photoshop seem cheap. These flowers for instance shining through a bland piece of earth. If I had Photoshop I couldn’t have done better myself.

Old Town

Another shot from the Kansas trip. We were taken to “Old Town” which is a reference to a section of downtown Wichita. This particular section of downtown was “resurfaced” to look vintage. Not of any particular vintage era but several kind of mashed together. Of course the main theme was shopping, dinning and whatnot. It did have some interesting structures that caught my eye. This just happens to be one of them.

There is a certain type of moment I love more than most. The random moments where you find yourself just hanging out and enjoying life. No worries, over analyzing and no business that needs attending. In my life there has been many times like these where I wish I had a camera. Not for any reason in particular but just to capture the moment. Well every once in a while, it just so happens that I do have one with me. When I do I get the opportunity it is really nice because then I have it on film and can go back to those random moments anytime I want.

I am only about three weeks late with this post. I feel that my favorite types of photographs have always been common objects. Common objects illuminated with the right light and different angles almost stop looking common. For me it is a way to graphically show what we all know about the ordinary.

Attention Span & Focus

Hanging out on Sunday I just snapped a couple of shots of some friends in various forms of focus and paying attention to one another. These days it seems like almost everyone has a short attention span. In addition to the low focus rate of people today it appears everyone is in a hurry and even when you are talking to them they are thinking about something else. Multi-tasking I think it’s called these days. It was nice to see everyone taking the time to listen to one another.
